What is reiki?
Mikao Usui discovered a method in the late 19th century to reconnect people with the universal energy of life. The full name of this method is Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho.
Reiki is the energy that everyone needs daily to live life, to keep the body healthy and to develop the mind. A reiki treatment brings this energy, which we all need so badly on a daily basis. Getting Reiki flowing is done through the laying on of hands. A Reiki master has mastered all aspects of Reiki, has integrated this into his or her life, and is able to restore the energy balance between Reiki and man to unity. After a Reiki 1 course, the student is able, completely independently, to treat himself and others with Reiki.
That is the beauty and simplicity of Reiki.

Origin
The Usui System of Natural Healing was discovered at the end of the 19th century by Mikao Usui, a Japanese spiritual teacher. He passed on the gift of Reiki to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi. Later passed the gift of Reiki to Hawayo Takata and to her granddaughter Phyllis Furumoto. Today Johannes Reindl is the guardian of the gift of Reiki.
The Reiki Healing Institute was founded after years of studying the gift of Reiki. The Reiki Healing Institute works with the traditional way of Reiki practice and treatment, including the training of 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree students.
Organization
The gift of Reiki has traveled all over the world since its inception, so several organizations have become involved. This is not a bad thing; however, the Reiki Healing Institute stands for the quality of passing on the gift of Reiki. The Reiki Ryoho Foundation is the guardian of the quality of the traditional gift of Reiki. This is an umbrella body that registers recognized Reiki Masters and Reiki Practitioners according to certain quality standards. These Reiki Masters teach traditionally and are clearly identifiable by their affiliation with Reiki Ryoho.
The three Reiki Degrees
The Usui System of Natural Healing contains three degrees. Each degree has its own depth and represents a new phase of insights, perspectives, growth, development and associated possibilities. Each degree is complete in itself in unity as a completed whole. Each Reiki practitioner decides for himself what depth is needed on his path. There is no right or wrong for that.
1st degree
After the 1st degree Reiki course, the gift of Reiki has been received and can be practice and treat Reiki independently through the imposition of hands. According to traditional quality standards, the 1st degree consists of a number of fixed components that have been passed on from Reiki Master to Reiki Student since its inception.
During the 1st degree Reiki course, the ability to transmit Reiki and make it work through the hands is transferred from the teaching Reiki Master to the Reiki Student through initiations. All parts of the course are covered in detail so that the student is equipped to give Reiki independently.
Reiki Healing Institute
You are taught by experienced teachers, with an origin in terms of insight, knowledge, training and line of initiation that is entirely in line with the Japanese origin of Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho and the teachings of the grandmasters. The energy and knowledge of Reiki comes directly through these founders. The Masters are of course part of an affiliated with the Reiki Ryoho Foundation.
